Beautiful, vintage, Tlingit, double sided, Raven’s Tail, bag.
Hand spun/rolled mountain goat wool.
This bag was woven by a member of the Tlingit from Angoon, Alaska. She was one of the first handful of people who first started practicing this type of weaving with its early revival in the 1990’s. Most of the more recent bags are just one sided, while this rare bag is woven on both sides. It is finished along the top with sea otter fur. This item has been used for display only. I have not used it as a bag, & it is in excellent condition.
Measurements: Approximately 12 x 5.5 inches or 30.58 x 13.98 cm excluding handle strap and side fringe.
