Description

What I have for sale is:
A fresh
built
1968 440 D HP BLOCK complete date correct, 906 heads, forged crank, forged rods, original intake manifold, original crank damper, original water pump housings, and water pump, fuel pump, high pressure / high volume Milidon oil pump, 8 qt oil pan with extended pickup and original windage tray (for oil scavenging off the crank).  You will
receive, at no charge,
a new engine cradle with wheels, where the engine is sitting currently, new spark plugs, new engine block off plates, manifold lifting plate, electronic Mopar Performance distributer, and a coil.
These are in place to protect and seal off the engine.
I also have (for sale), if you are interested, the original top and bottom pullies, original value covers, original alternator brackets, original chrome power steering pump and bracket, original 4 speed transmission and original bell housing and clutch fork (no pressure plate).
Back Ground:
I have owned this engine since 1978.
It has never been abused, and it was moved from show car to show car.
It has been used to pull the show cars on and off the trailers etc.
Occasionally I would use the car to do local cruz-ins, and trips to the sonic.
I might have put on 2000 miles in the last 43 years on this engine.
The engine has been out of a car waiting for my last build since 2001 (too many projects).
I have been collecting the parts since 2001 with the intention of building a high rev tunnel ram engine.
All machine work and components are selected and designed for that purpose (better oiling, better fuel / exhaust flows thru the heads, ARP main studs, ARP head studs, ARP rod studs and bolts, etc.).
Since all the work had been done to the block, crank, rods, heads, THEN I decided to sell off this project.
I toned it down with a hydraulic Mopar Performance purple cam, and forged TRW pistons yielding better than 10:1 with fully prepared high-performance heads.
This will make an EXCELLET hot rod engine with that loppey / choppy idle sound.
This engine will have huge torque numbers (acceleration) and no pre-detonate on pump gas.
You can use either an automatic transmission or a manual 4 speed transmission (the crank has the pilot bushing installed).
VERY RELIABLE!
I have only one of these, and I am getting ready to retire, and I need to downsize my projects.
Someone is going to be very lucky to get this.
Engine particulars:
All machine work and engine assembly performed by Randals Racing & Machine, 13160 Jefferson Davis Hwy, Chester, VA 23831
The 1968 440 HP Block has been professionally prepared for all out-bracket racing.
The block was MAGNAFLUXED, shot peened, cleaned and pressure tested.
The block has been lined honed and new cam bearings installed.
The cylinders are standard bore, and honed and prepared for TRW forged pistons and high-performance rings, using torque plates.
The oil journals have been enlarged throughout the block for better oiling to use the high volume / high pressure oil pump.
All bolt holes were thread chased, and brass freeze plugs installed.
The mains have ARP main studs and nuts.
ARP is used in all out-race performance for their superior holding power.
The 440 Forged crank has a fresh 440 .010-.010 with micro polish, and was magnafluxed, oil holes were chamfered, and the journal sides were radiused.
The 440 HP forged rods were cleaned, the rod ends were reconditioned, magnafluxed, and shot peened.
The rods have a new set of ARP rod bolts and nuts also using new TRW forged pistons L2355 STD.
All rotating assembly components (crank/rods/pistons) have been internally balanced.
Using neutral balanced crank damper and flywheel / pressure plates must be used (preferred method)
The 906 heads are date code correct.  They have been professionally race prepared (00) with enlarges intake and exhaust runners.  Hardened valve seats, and installed with MILIDON Megaflow intake (45266-8) and exhaust (45275-8) valves 2.14 / 1.81 (stock is 2.08 / 1.74).  Swirled polished, back cut stem, stainless steel values ALL improve fuel / exhaust flow.  The runner flows / porting / polishing was done using Mopar Performance blueprint templates and Randel’s state of the art machines.  Mopar Performance P3690933 Street Hemi high performance springs (accommodating .470 to .510 valve lift), Bronze valve guides, P4286573 3/8 - 8 degree keepers, and a 3 angle value and seat job finishes the head assemblies.  ARP head studs and nuts are used to secure the heads to the block (you can see the studs next to the spark plugs in the side view picture).  PRW roller rockers 1.6 Stainless for B/RB Mopar are used with custom length chrome-moly 7/16 pushrods.
The short block was assembled using:
Bearings Cleveite 77 rods and mains.
The main bearings are ‘half grooved’ for better oiling at higher RPMs.
(This goes with all the oil journal work and oil pump and 8 qt pan).
The Timing chain used is a Comp Cams magnum double roller.
Camshaft – Mopar Performance Purple P4120235 Hydraulic 284/284 duration, 68-degree overlap, .484 / .484 design lift 108 centerline (solid 12 sec ¼ engine according to Mopar Performance Engines 8
th
edition)
Lifters – Mopar Performance P3690933 – 0-.520” lift range
Moly break-in lube liberally used.
Please be aware that I will not ship this engine anywhere,
it is pickup only in Sevierville Tennessee.
I can meet you half way to any far distance, but I would need to be paid for time and gas.
You must bring your own manpower, since I cannot help load.
I have an engine hoist, and you can use that for your loading.
You will need to bring a trailer, and LOTS of straps, and a waterproof tarp.  If you pay the 'buy it now' price, we will make arrangements to get it to you, even if I have to drive it myself.
ALL REASONABLE OFFERS will be considered.
