Old Woven Cradleboard and Doll Hopi Native American Indian

This is a beautiful old set from the Hopi Pueblo -- a man doll made from wood, fabrics and beads and a cradleboard made from a Hopi hand-woven section of a sash with a backing of black trade wool. The doll stands 11" tall. He has a sculpted leather face over a carved wooden one which is very realistic. Please look at the photos for the fine lips, nose, and sculpted facial shape -- beautiful work. The hair is made from the old yarn-string. His wooden arms are poseable - not wire but joined at shoulder.  All of the doll is carved wood. The clothing is made from a cotton fabric and cream colored felt.  The beadwork on the cape is made from seed beads - green, black and red.  His boots are joined separately and also wooden.  The outfit needs some cleaning - a spill on the front.
The cradle is made from an old Hopi hand-woven sash, the back is made from black wool. The cradle measures 14" from top to hem (folded), and the woven section is 4 1/4" W.  This is a very unusual set. I have never seen another cradle made from a woven sash or even a Hopi man doll like this before.  Wonderful set for a collection with very rich Hopi history and artistry.
